Mariano & Jaris Gauna (School Leaders)

Picture
Mariano & Jaris have been working with YWAM for almost 15 years. The couple met in their DTS in Curitiba, Brazil and were part of the same outreach team to Bahia Blanca and Catriló, Argentina. After the school finished, they both felt called to continue to serve with YWAM Brazil which they did until 1999 when they left Brazil to come to England, where they received further training to pursue their calling to serve in Pakistan, received in an intercession time in their DTS. Mariano then attended a coaching course with the FA and was then qualified a level 2 football (soccer) coach.
They arrived in Pakistan in 2001 and served there for 7 seven years; working directly with the local church, they served the church in various ways, helping in discipleship, leading worship, preaching and teaching and eventually leading the worship ministry as well as helping in teaching creative ways of sharing the gospel with the youth.
Mariano was also working in a local private school as a football and Sports coach, which he enjoyed a lot given the opportunity to input in young people's lives not only football and sports skills but character, christian values and life skills. Mariano also was ordained as a pastor in 2008 just before leaving Pakistan. He's a musician and worship leader that can play guitar, bass, drums and keyboard and Jaris is a singer, who used to sing in weddings back in the day...
They have been working in YWAM Harpenden for over 2 years now and their desire is to see young people challenged, trained, equipped and sent. They have a passion to see communities being reached with the Love of God and young people using their giftings and God-given skills to be part of what God is doing locally and around the world.
They have 2 children, Paola, aged 9 born in Bangkok, Thailand; and Lucca, aged 6 born in Lahore, Pakistan.
